China Carbon Graphite Group, Inc. (Stock Symbol: CHGI) manufactures carbon and graphite based products in China. CHGI is the largest wholesale supplier of fine grain and high purity graphite in China and one of the nation's top overall producers of carbon and graphite products. Fine grain graphite is widely used in smelting for colored metals and rare-earth metal smelting as well as the manufacture of molds. High purity graphite is used in metallurgy, mechanical industry, aviation, electronic, atomic energy, chemical industry, food industry and a variety of other fields.

In September 2007, CHGI was approved and designated by Ministry of Science & Technology as a ``National Hi-tech Enterprise''. Of the 400 plus carbon graphite producers in China, CHGI is the only non-state-owned company to receive this honor.

CHGI was formed in 1986 as a state-owned carbon graphite manufacturer and in January 2002 it was restructured to be a private enterprise. As of December 2008, CHGI has 550 full time employees.

CHGI has technology cooperation agreements with Hunan University, the only university in China that offers a major in carbon studies. CHGI also has cooperation with Tsinghua University for nuclear research.

CHGI can produce graphite with 99.9999% purity and larger sizes which are required for nuclear graphite. Chinese central government will invest 400 billion RMB in nuclear power plants in the next 15 years. As of October 2008, CHGI is one of four companies in China who have the technology to produce nuclear graphite for nuclear power plants. CHGI is planning to build up production for nuclear graphite in 2010.
